A Selfless Friend

Friendship is the most beautiful thing of all. It stays longer than and is harder to break than love. That is why having one best friend is way better than having any number of lovers. This poem is my not-so-humble opinion about the same.

...A Selfless Friend...

A friend.

It is rather difficult to tell

Who is one,

And who isn't?

But let me share my

Not-so-humble opinion

About who actually is my companion.

That one person

Who I want to spend all my hours with.

That one person

Who is never judgemental of me

But is ready to criticise the world with me.

The person who is there

To laugh at all my stupid jokes.

To cry with me in my sad times.

Who doesn't care if I'm

Rish or broke.

That friend means the world to me.

While lovers mean the most to them.

But lovers go but my friend decides to stay.

My friend is the one

Who stops me from loving the wrong person.

That friend is way better than any relationship.

Whose friendship doesn't need a reason

Or a justification 

Is the person I need in life because

The only reason is me.

The only justification is me.

That selfless love of a selfless friend 

Is what deserves a place in my heart.

Those arms that are there to catch me when I fall,

They deserve to have me complete and all.

Those arms are where I should put my heart

Till the end and from the start.

So while most people go look for

Lovers who can hold them,

I'm looking for an honest friend,

So we can behold them

As we laugh at them.
