Chapter -4:
...First Unit Tests...
“Hey, Akshi! You got a bunch of free periods too?” Theo asks me as I sit down in front of him. I nod and set my bag beside me. Theo smiles and asks, “What’re you going to do now?” I open my notebook, the one in which I plan out my stories before I write them, and stretch, “Work out a few scenes for this novel I’m working on.” He seems interested, “what’s it called?”
“The
title is ‘Return’”
“Don’t
give me any spoilers but what’s it about?”
“Don’t be
so impatient, the story is about how a brother and sister receive a letter
addressed to a professor of a prestigious university. The letter is dated ten
years ago. The whole novel revolves around their quest to give the letter to
the professor.” He seems interested, “Sounds amazing, can’t wait to read it.” “What’re
you going to do?” I ask looking at the stuff in his lap, “sketch,” he answers
me.
Theo had told me that he likes drawing, but not enough
to make it his career. He says that it’s just a hobby and that he rarely ever
gets the time to draw nowadays and he’ll probably give it up after he gets a
job. That’s sad but yet again it’s his own choice. I begin my work, I plot the
climax, and other scenes while Theo scribbled away. After about an hour and a
half, Theo taps my hands, “look,” I look up and see the sketch he made. It’s
me! He drew a sketch of me while I was busy planning my novel. I take the
sketchbook from him and spread my fingers across the sketch. It looks just like
me but better. Theo has a sort of illustrative art style; it gives me a kind of
adorable cartoony look. Theo puts a hand on my shoulder and looks over the
sketch, “what do you think?” turn to face him, “I love it! It’s amazing but you
made my nose wrong,” he laughs and I give him a hug as a reward for his amazing
work.
. . .
Our classes resume after a while, but I pull through
them. To be honest, I wasn’t in the mood to study. So, when the day ended, I
was really happy to go home.
